﷽| What is the meaning of Takbirat al-Ihram at the beginning of prayer?
In a narration, someone asks, when we start our prayer and raise our hands while saying Allahu Akbar, what does this signify? What does raising the hands mean? The answer given is that by raising your hands, you declare that in these moments, you are casting aside everything except God. Allahu Akbar means that because He is greater than all, everything else is left behind. The one who prays, with the heartfelt intention of worshiping God, stands in their mihrab and the first words they utter are Allahu Akbar—God is greater and above all things. Pay attention, by saying Allahu Akbar and proclaiming this great Islamic declaration, a Muslim diminishes all other greatnesses before their heart and soul.
